This intricately carved and painted wooden sculpture is a modern work of Mexican folk art that synthesizes traditional Mesoamerican (Aztec and Maya) iconography into a vertical wall relief. The piece features a high-relief "stack" of sacred animal and human figures, common in indigenous mythology, meticulously carved from a single block of wood—likely cedar or copal.

Central Iconography
The Eagle: The primary lower focus is a powerful avian head (representing the sun and elite warriors) with a prominent wooden beak, dark textured plumage, and red-ringed eyes. Its lower "jaw" is decorated with a vibrant turquoise mosaic pattern, a technique historically used by Aztec and Mixtec artisans for sacred objects.

The Serpent: At the top center, a green serpent—likely representing Kukulcán or Quetzalcóatl—is carved with large, pale fangs and a red tongue. The serpent symbolizes birth, renewal, and the connection between the sky and the underworld.

The Jaguar: On the upper left, a skull-like figure wears a jaguar headdress. In Mesoamerican culture, the jaguar and eagle together symbolized the supreme power of warriors and the daily cycle of the sun.
