This is a beautiful Mayan carving of the Kukulkan Mayan deity transformed into a jaguar body. For the Mayans the jaguar is symbol of protection and "Kukulkan" (also spelled K'uk'ulkan) is a prominent deity, often referred to as the "Feathered Serpent," and is closely associated with the creator god and the god of rain, wind, storms, and life.
